.....placed under his care, or brought or come to the said school in the Lattin or Greeke tongues, not only such as are of the parish of Catterick, but elsewhere, without demanding haveing or taking any sume of money, reward or gratuity for such their learning, my intent being that this should be a free schooll for all persons after being qualified to enter upon learning the Lattin tongue, and to the intent that a propper and able person may att all times forever hereafter be master of the said school viz, a man not only qualifies in learning in the Lattin and Greeke tongues but also exemplary life. I do order or appoint my said trustees or the more part of them , shall meet in some convenient part of my now dwelling house in such a convenient time as to them shall seem fitting after my decease for search of and to elect a fitt person for the said schoolmaster. And to the intent that the said schoolmaster when elected or any other, which may att any time hereafter for ever be elected, may be the more diligent and careful in discharge of their dutys in the said schoolland in comeing and bringing their scholers to the said Church att Bolton every Sunday in the afternoon and every holliday in the year to hear devine service and sermon, I doe hereby order and appoynt that it shall and may be lawfull to and for my said trustees and their successors trustees of this my charity for ever, to enquire and inspect into the behaviour of the said schoolmaster, and upon the said schoollmaster being negligent in his office or incapable of discharging his duties in the opinion of my said trustees or the more part of them, to be replaced, removed, turned out at the pleasure of my said trustees or the more part of them or their successors, and a new one to be by them elected and chosen as aforesaid and I doe further order and appoynt that my said trustees and their successors or the more part of them shall also in the like manner elect and choose such a person as to them seem fitting to aid and assist the said master as an usher in the said schooland shall have the like power and authority of removing and turning out such usher att their pleasure and electing such...... |
