In the Name of God Amen,
I - Leonard Robinson, of Scorton, in the county of Yorke, gent, being
visited with sickness and weake in body, but of sound and disposing mind
and memory, doe make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner
following, and first and principally I recommend my soul unto Allmighty
God, hopeing for free pardon and remission of all my sins through the
meritorious death and passion of my ever blessed Saviour, Jesus Christ,
and as for such worldly estate as God in mercy has bestowed upon me, I
doe give, devise, add bequeath the same as follows :
Imprimis, I give and bequeath unto William Iveson Clarke Vicar of Catterick
in the county of Yorke, and to his successors, vicars of Catterick for
the time being for ever, to John Waistell of Ainderby Steeple Esqr., George
Wright of Bolton Esqr., Thomas Smithson of Moulton, Thomas Cottingham
of Tunstall, Timothy Dickonson of Scorton, Henry Stephenson of Whinham
add Matthew Smailes of Gilling, all in the county of Yorke, gents, and
to their heirs and assigns for ever, and to such other persons as shall
hearafter become trustees, for the charitys by me intended hereby, all
and every of my messuages, lands, tenements, and hereditaments wheresoever
with their appurtenances, situate and being within the town, townshipp
and prescincts and territorys of Scorton aforesaid, to and for the uses,
intents, trusts, and purposes hereafter, mentioned, that is to say, that
they, the said persons,above named, and their successors as shall be or
become trustees, of this charity, shall out of the rents and profilts
of the said premises, satisfy, and pay unto my dear wife, Dorothy Robinson,
the sums of forty pounds per annum during the terms of her natural life,
by four equal quarterly payment, to commence from and immediately after
my decease, the same, being in full of her claim of thirds or dower forth
or out of my estate, then I doe order and appoynt that my said trustees
and their successors shall yearly pay out
